Overview (Información general)

To deliver on-site audits in the supply chain of the rail sector covering a combination of quality, health and safety and environment management systems.

** Applicants must have experience in RISQS Audit **


Rail Scheme: The aim of RISQS Audit scheme is to confirm that all suppliers of high risk products and services to the rail industry demonstrate compliance with set requirements.

Responsibilities (Responsabilidades)

  • Deliver four customer facing days of audit and one report writing day per week
  • Deliver audits to the specified levels of quality, time and cost that meet the requirements of the relevant industry and scheme standards
  • Produce high quality audit reports as determined by each audit programme
  • Liaise with internal operations personnel to ensure the optimum utilisation of time and resources
  • Liaise, where necessary, with clients or other interested parties to provide guidance on the content of the scheme
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the various schemes while ensuring that they conform to the framework of corporate standards and procedures
  • Undergo annual witnessed audits as part of the AAS quality management procedures
  • Provide constructive feedback to ensure the on-going development of the schemes
  • This post will require regular travel throughout the UK with the occasional need for overseas travel

Qualifications (Cualificaciones)

The following are essential:

  • Working knowledge of RISQS / Rail industry sector, including an understanding of how contracts and projects are discharged
  • A working knowledge of health and safety, environmental and quality management systems
  • Exposure to the delivery of audit programmes.
  • A track record of liaising with clients or work experience of a customer service industry.
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience of auditing
  • Customer focused and service oriented
  • Fully mobile and flexible
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels from managing directors to frontline operatives
  • A team player capable of meeting high customer expectations.
  • Working without supervision
  • Good PC skills, including competence in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)


The following are preferred, however not essential, as training may be given in the relevant areas:

  • A Health and Safety professional qualification such as NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
  • Lead Assessor via examination (preferably IRCA or equivalent).
  • Environmental Awareness Certificate provided by a recognised provider such as IEMA, CIEH etc.
  • Memberships of relevant professional institutions such as IEMA, IOSH, IIRSM and/or EI

Person Specification

  • A strong desire to shape a highly significant part of the Achilles business via the delivery of audit.
  • An articulate communicator with the ability to shape and develop views and initiatives.
  • Focused on quality and delivery within a customer service, commercially aware environment.
  • Able to deliver training programmes, seminars to their peers when required.
